A Thank You Is In Order
As we enter into the holiday season, it is important to be mindful of God’s many blessings in your life and His continued love toward you. On Tuesday, November 13, we had our annual Pre-Thanksgiving Service. God spoke to our hearts from Psalms 103. In Psalms 103:1-5, David reflected on how God showed His enduring mercy towards him. Often times as believers, we fall short of the glory of God, but these verses of scripture lets us know that in spite of it all, one of the benefits of knowing God is that He will forgive us and restore us back to our proper place in Him. In the latter verses of this chapter, David begins to explain how all creations were created to praise God. My sermon topic on that night was A Thank You Is In Order. Looking at today’s generation of young adults and youth, it looks as if they have not been taught the art of being respectful and being polite. When I was growing up, I was taught that when people do things for you A Thank You Was In Order. The elders in my family quickly let me know people are not obligated to do anything for you and if someone chose to do anything it is essential to have an attitude of gratitude. This spirit of entitlement is running rapid in homes, churches, and in the workplace, but this chapter of scripture will cause us to shift from a place of entitlement to a place of adoration. Contrary to the illusion created by the people in the world, there are many benefits to serving God. Psalms 103 gives us five benefits for being thankful and blessing a mighty and powerful God.
- God forgives us of all our iniquities.
- God heals us of all our diseases.
- God delivers us from destruction.
- God crowns us with kindness and mercy.
- God satisfies our deepest needs and strengthens us as the eagle.
Be blessed during this holiday season and always keep God first.
