The LAUNCH – Dealing with Suicide
Every Pastor wants to see his flock grow and implement the biblical principles and strategies taught day in and day out in various church services. It made my heart glad to see the Youth Department carry on the vision of the LAUNCH! My hat goes off to Sis. Zelma Jones and her dynamic team that dealt with the sensitive subject of suicide. You all empowered and equipped the people of God with knowledge and strategies to defeat this deadly and dark spirit. The Bible declares that life and death are in the power of the tongue. You let parents know that their words carry weight and shape the lives of the children God has blessed them with. Secondly, you and your team made the youth aware that suicide is final and a selfish act. Often times young people feel like they are immortal; but through this workshop you all showed the young people that one choice made in depression, out of anger, out of low self-esteem, or even out of hurt is lasting, and it affects more than just you. Finally, you all encouraged everyone to answer the phone. A simple hello could save the life of the person on the other end of the phone.
